Spreading The Word

Let’s talk distribution, folks. I checked my Google Analytics data this week. And the numbers were just incredible. Out of over seven billion folks on the planet, about two saw my publishing powerhouse! Incredible scenes! Now in all serious, I don’t particularly care at this point. I’m…

Follow the Feeling

Jumping on this one whilst I feel inspired. I hate to admit it, but I’m in a ferocious battle with comparison. It chips away at you on so many different levels. Financial comparison. Personal comparison. Career comparison. Company comparison. Weather comparison even (I’m Scottish). At times I…

A Different Perspective

I have a very easy job today. To present some timeless advice from a previous era. Digest every word. Then look who produced them. First Federal Savings! Sure, those savings may not retain the same value as when this advice was produced. But the mindset that creates those savings is more valuable than ever. I always feel more secure, relaxed and generally more pleasant to be around when I have a financial buffer behind me. So heed this advice my friends!

And to my earlier point, we may just have somewhere more exciting to put those savings instead.

Signing out, Steven.

I’m Over Overthinking

So what the fuck are we writing about today then, Steven? As you can see by the title, I was trying to address something that plagues me mucho; getting started. And by exploring this theme, I fell right into the dreaded overthinking trap! I started analysing my…

Micromanagement.

I can’t think of a more corrosive habit. One that quickly strangles the life out of most teams. I have seen it applied in many different guises; the autocratic company director, the incompetent general manager. The ego driven upstart. …

For me, I have struggled with these questions for a long time. I have a natural tendency to blow hot and cold on various projects. At times I can be intensely excited about an objective or idea. Yet the very next day I’m despondent, and utterly bored by that very…

I’ve just moved into a new house, in a beautiful suburb of central Melbourne. And what a difference. After a few years of chopping and changing, finding myself in leaky apartments and minuscule studios, the benefits are already clear. I am benefitting from a clear mind. Previously, I viewed where…

It was my birthday the other day. Thirty Two so I am. Getting well into my fourth decade on this earth. And how does it feel? Not too shabby, to be fair. I could tally up what I’ve done against what I’ve not done so far. Instead, however, I say…

When things don’t seem ideal, I find it is easy to catastrophise and feel like the world is caving in. Business ideas floundering, websites not functioning properly, copywriting making no sense, working for others to support your plans etc. The list would be endless, if I thought hard enough about…

Just a short one today. When I’m low in confidence, it plays out in all sorts of ways. I am much quieter. I tend to disengage whilst my mind runs wild. Anxiety builds and my ears start buzzing. If you are not careful, it can become a doom loop where…

I’m Steven McCormack. I’m building a calm mind and a thoughtful life. I’m also a pleasantly amateur guitar player.
